Hosting

Who you choose matters

Getting started with exactly the right hosting plan is like finding the perfect pair of pants — a close tailored fit that’s comfortable but leaves some room for growth. You want to find a great deal without spending a ton of time shopping, trying things on, and possibly having to return them.

A hosting plan that’s too big will tax your budget and sanity, while something too small negatively affects your site’s ability to grow and perform as designed. The level of security afforded by the hosting company is also of great importance, especially given the increase in hacking over the last decade.

Treefrog belongs to the largest enterprise-level hosting facility in Ontario. Because our servers run Linux-based operating systems, we’re able to provide you the same power, stability and security relied on by the biggest internet sites in the world.

Self-Serve Hosting

Self-service web hosting is done completely on your own. This is the most advanced web hosting. You need to have a place to rent that stores your server. Then you’re responsible for the cooling, power, bandwidth, hardware, system administrator, backups, etc.

Here are a few of the things you’ll have to take care of:

  • Space in a data center or elsewhere to hold server
  • Cooling
  • Power, including backup
  • Connectivity to the internet
  • Server hardware
  • Systems administrator
  • Data integrity
  • Backup

Without allowances for the essential ingredients for self-hosting as outlined above, it’s not worth considering for the vast majority of websites. Even with the above attributes, self-hosting can be a lot of hard work and work out more expensive than any hosting plan provided by a dedicated company.
