Company History
Treefrog™ builds and manages hundreds of dynamic websites
Treefrog™ was founded in 1989 by Ernst Wallner and Chris Murray, in the basement of Chris's house. Statistically, the basement is the place where most web design agencies start – and most fail.
During this period (Ernst Wallner moved on quickly to create the remarkable company Ernst Wallner Contracting and Design), Chris kept Treefrog™ on the technological leading edge by purchasing the latest Apple computer hardware and creating multimedia CDs and related technological marvels. Thanks to Chris, Treefrog™ was one of the first web design agencies in Canada to have a computer with 2MB of RAM, a CD burner, and a digital camera.
Treefrog™ has built and hosts hundreds of websites, now creating innovative web-based applications.
At this same time, Sean Stephens was busy working on his own project, Whipoorwill House Online, one of the first online art galleries. Sean had secured a government grant and was living in the hope that he would one day make millions of dollars, even as the .com era was coming to a close.
In 2000, Stephanie Uprichard and Sean Stephens joined Treefrog™ as a comprehensive team to design, develop and build larger websites and multimedia projects. This was an exciting time for Treefrog™ when we began the development of OCULARIS™, the first version of our Content Management System, now known as LEAP™.
In 2002, the web world wasn't moving fast enough, so Chris Murray moved on to start another company, Myostat Motion Control, an importer of Japanese robotics.
Fast forward to today, where Treefrog™ has built and now hosts hundreds of websites. We are continually innovating to meet our clients' needs and exceed their expectations with comprehensive and unique web-based applications.
